According to Merriam Webster, chronic is described as â€Å"Continuing or occurring again and again for a long time†. For many Americans chronic and acute diseases are a reality. As stated by Medicine.net, an acute disease is â€Å"Of abrupt onset, about a disease. Acute often also connotes an illness that is of short duration, rapidly progressive, and in need of urgent care.† Chronic disease is defined as â€Å"A disease that persists for a long time. A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more† (â€Å"Medical†). One very common chronic disease is type 2 diabetes. This†¦show more content†¦First, extreme fatigue may occur in individuals with type 2 diabetes because the body is being tremendously deprived of sugar which is fuel for the body thus causing sleepiness and even irritability (â€Å"Symptoms†). Second, t his condition can also cause increase thirst and frequent urination. According to the Mayo Clinic this occurs because â€Å"Excess sugar building up in your bloodstream causes fluid to be pulled from the tissues.†. Third, increased hunger may occur because your body is not producing enough insulin to distribute sugar throughout, the muscles and organs become depleted of energy (â€Å"Symptoms†). Fourth, the condition affects the way the body can heal and protect itself from multiple types of infections. Fifth, blurred vision is common because when the body’s blood sugar is too high it pulls fluids from the eyes causing blurred and unfocused vision. The sixth symptom that may occur is tingling, numbness, or pain can occur in the hands or feet because the body’s tiny blood vessels are being exposed to excess sugar which can lead injury leading to the sensation of tingling, numbness, or pain in the tips of the fingers or toes (â€Å"Symptoms†). Students were all so ready to find their place, to join the club that would change part of what their school year would be like. Some would join the same as before, and some would be bold and try for something new. Alena stood with the other cheerleaders, having arrived early to set up their booth and begin drawing attention be sounding off with some of their new cheers. It still made Alena giggle when she called out the teams name, how it even got approved was beyond her. But maybe it was all part of the entertainment of it all? He disciplines, but with a loving hand. Edwards continually used phrases such as ?always exposed to destruction,? ?sudden unexpected destruction,? ?anger and wrath of God,? and ?the dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of God.? This does not present the New Testament message of Jesus' love. Prior to Jesus' birth in that small stable in Bethlehem, the only means of atonement for sin was through the blood of a sacrifice. When Jesus took his first breath the old law of God ceased, and the new law began. The ?black clouds of God's wrath,? as Edwards termed it, would be absent until the last breath would be exhaled on the cross, the skies would become dark, and an earthquake happened. When God turned his back on his own Son there had taken place an exhibition of love on the grandest scale. I feel that Edwards, with all of his good intentions, was attempting to do again what the Puritans had failed at doing. He was trying to frighten his listeners out of hell instead of loving them into heaven. He was, in my estimation, saying, ?You are too stupid to see it. Let me tell you what God wants you to hear. Believe me because I am a godly man, and you are not.? In chapter three of St. John, Jesus began his talk with Nicodemus three times with ?Verily, verily, I say unto you (John 3:3, 5, 11). I take pleasure from the manner in which the new international version (NIV) of the Bible translates it. Biological warfare is an imminent threat and one of the most terrifying of all weapons. One of the main reasons biological warfare haunts the minds of many is that it may lead to a slow and painful death and that if the condition it causes is incurable, the outbreak may be impossible to stop. Infectious disease is no longer the biggest killer in the Western world, and this perhaps is what makes it so terrifying.
